Doctor J T Jelks Dies In Hot Springs Heart Failure Ends Noted Physician Life
Hot Springs reports the death of Dr J T Jelks a longtime prominent physician and brother of Governor Jelks of Alabama He died of heart failure at about oclock after remaining in apparent good health He served as surgeon general of the Arkansas state guard and left a wife two daughters and two sons. A separate note from Bald Knob describes grave desecration on the old Woodard farm where gravesite stones were removed and a coffin may have been disturbed with no culprits found.

Fletcher Judge killed Sid Sowell with a shotgun in Searcy after a family feud flare up. Judge, who turned himself in, said Lowell Sowell had lived with his stepmother for six years and insulted the family. An exchange of words led to Judge returning home with a gun and firing twice.

Assaulted Man Dead After Robbery Near Choctaw Depot
Robert High, believed assaulted and robbed Monday night near the Choctaw depot, died Wednesday night in the county jail after care ordered by Judge Scarborough. A pauper with no relatives, he was buried in the city cemetery at county expense. He died without naming his attackers and no clues exist for officers to pursue.
