John Ward a telegraph lineman and W. D. Thomas a traveling salesman were roughed up by a Wynne mob early Friday. Both were tied to trees and lashed with hickory, tarred and feathered after being accused of interfering with a prominent man’s home. Ward allegedly planned to elope with the woman, while Thomas is said to have aided the scheme though he denies prior acquaintance.

Judge Caldwell Resigns From U S Circuit Bench
Little Rock reports Judge N C Caldwell of the Eighth U S circuit sent his resignation to President Roosevelt on June 2 to take effect June 4. The 70 year old jurist wrote from Wagon Wheel Gap, Col where he spends summers with his family. Caldwell was appointed district judge in 1864 by Lincoln and elevated to the circuit by Harrison.
