Lake formed by mountain slide near Myrtle Point

In a South Fork Coquille River expedition report from September 1892 the authors describe a lake created two years earlier by a major mountain slide. The canyon was buried under sand and debris, a horse was freed after hours of work, and travel to Roseburg via wagon road was planned. The Kickapoo Indian Medicine Company intends to set up a village at Newberg on September 19 with moral and entertaining programs. Chamberlain products are advertised alongside notices of local sales and services.
