Dr Dixon's Ford Stolen Sunday Night
A Ford belonging to Dr E P Dixon was stolen from in front of the Nazarene church on Sunday night. John Dixon and H M Huffman pursued the thieves and recovered the vehicle, bringing three Portland suspects to jail. The trio claimed they hired the car from a man named Brown on First Street and were later captured in Portland. The suspects escaped jail during the night but were recaptured and jailed in McMinnville pending grand jury action. Detectives pursued Beggs after a confrontation. he was wounded by police fire and hospitalized. Williams was arrested the same hour by City Detectives Hellyer and Tackaberry.

The Princess hotel at East Third and Burnside sold to F. W. Peterson and Philip Graham. The 74-room four story reinforced concrete structure cost $73,000 to build ten years ago. Locks at Oregon City to Be Improved

Engineers plan to close the locks around September 19 for about six weeks to deepen the chamber by two to six feet, moving 18 000 yards of material at an estimated cost near 80 000 dollars.
