Train Accident Kills Woman and Injures Several
Passengers from Portland witnessed a deadly wreck near Oswego when cords of wood broke loose from a passing freight train striking a Labor Day picnic group at Goodin. Mrs. John Kelley 35 died from skull fracture. several others injured including the Bartell Pfeifer and Robinson households.

Duncan a Newberg public school principal and former Dayton and McMinnville student, and McCoy a Newberg contractor and T M teacher, both active in the Christian church. The Rev George C Ritchey officiated and the couple will reside in Newberg after October 1.

Welfare School lectures attract residents to Opera House
The O A C General Welfare School sessions at the Opera House drew many townspeople despite hop picking vacations. The program featured food chemistry talks by Prof. R K Brodie, demonstrations by Miss Groves, and insights on school gardens led by M O Evans Jr. Officials urged local cooperation to combat food adulteration and sanitation issues as the group planned two weeks in Eastern Oregon after visiting Hillsboro and Forest Grove.
