Fratricide Execution at San Quentin
George W. Clark known as the St. Helena fratricide died on the gallows at San Quentin California on October 24. He murdered his brother at St. Helena Napa County after waiting for him and shooting him. Earlier he tried to poison his brother’s coffee amid an 18 year affair with his brother’s wife. He confessed, fought to overturn the confession, and was sentenced after appeals. He later exonerated the wife and received Salvation Army support.

Seven Men Dead In Astoria Boiler Burst On Trial Trip
On the torpedo-boat Davis off Cathlamet seven firemen were fatally scalded when a boiler tube failed during a trial run. Foreman William Wood and six workers were killed or fatally injured as live steam and smoke filled the cramped boiler room. Rescuers rushed the injured to the after cabin while doctors and officers aided the wounded. The incident occurred at 11:40 AM during full-speed testing. deaths followed in the hospital.
