Elizabeth White Obituary Highlights Pioneer Educator in Oregon

Mrs Elizabeth White longtime Portland childcare advocate and early Oregon pioneer died after a life devoted to teaching and caring for the young. Born near Richmond Indiana she moved with Nathan White to Kansas Oregon and Newberg where Newberg Friends meeting served as home base. She helped more than 2000 children in Portland with Bible reading on Sabbath afternoons and remained active in public affairs. Her golden wedding in 1908 and surviving family are noted.

Leona Belle Warner Dies at Sixteen

Post mortem held by Drs. Littlefield and Hester found the cause of death to be spinal meningitis. Leona Belle Warner, daughter of Mrs. Minnie B. Co, died last Saturday at age sixteen.

Mrs. Linville Hosts Wentz Moving Party

Mrs. R B Linville entertained Tuesday afternoon for Mrs J M Wentz who will move to Tualitin for her husband’s job. Guests included Mesdames Scott Oliver Churchill Bartholomew Putman Britt Wood Marshall Conklin Mills Bankson Way Hayward Wentz and Emma Langworthy. Two guessing contests dress maker and cook provided amusement with prizes for high and low correct answers. A lunch was served and the group presented Mrs Wentz with twelve china pie plates as a remembrance. All left at 5 80 praising the hostess and the W R C love and fraternity.

Compton Kennedy Wedding Occurred in Dallas Groom Local Prominent

The Compton Kennedy wedding took place Sunday October 11 at the Kennedy home on North Main Street. Miss Lucille Kennedy married Vernon F. Compton of Dallas with Rev. I. F. McNamee officiating. The bride, a former telephone operator, and the groom, a prominent Dallas young man, were married in a ceremony at the Kennedy residence.
