Death of Former Newberg Citizen Job P. Dodge

Job P. Dodge aged 76 died Monday in Hillsboro area after living at The Maples west of Newberg then Yaquina bay resorts and First and Fir residence. Born July 22 1841 in Ohio, he served in an Illinois Civil War regiment and belonged to G A R. He remarried Florence Ewing in 1909 in Newberg. survivors include Asa Dodge Duluth MT Mrs Edward Koplin Helena MT and Lottie Dodge Portland. Funeral Thursday at his residence with I O O F cemetery burial and planned later Duluth reinterment.

Newberg Boys Off for Mare Island

Four Oregon youths Percival I Sharp Frank L Sharp Ralph Butt and W Franklin Miller left Portland for Mare Island San Francisco to train as Navy wireless operators. They paid their own way and completed the Y M C A wireless course in two weeks showing notable patriotism and drive.
