The photograph shows the Exposition area 9 percent completed as war began. Admissions average over 50,000 monthly at 25 cents, with total receipts $101,000 from Sept 9, 1913 to Aug 30, 1914. The Palace of steel and concrete will be ready before publication.
Elisabeth Miles born December 6 1827 in Alton New Hampshire daughter of John and Elisabeth Bean lived in West Branch and Springdale Iowa later serving as a minister with West Branch Monthly Meeting and Iowa Yearly Meeting She and husband Benjamin Miles worked in Osage Agency Indian Territory and at White's Institute Iowa They moved to Newberg Oregon where Miles died June 25 1890 Elisabeth continued to live with her son until her death Funeral services were held at Salem and Newberg with Pacific College faculty and students in attendance
An Autumn social at Autocome Inn Springbrook Auditorium featured auto themed games, taggings with car names, and a basement chicken pie supper served by the Springbrook Rural Improvement Club. Speakers from Bible classes closed the evening honoring the young men's class with performances to follow Friday at Wood-Mar Hall.
Yamhill County Sunday School conven tion met at the M E church with L S Hopfield of McMinville present. An interesting program is under way at the sessions and attendance remains good. Evening services are held at Friends church to accommodate the crowd.
Yamhill County residents are warned their 1913 taxes are delinquent and will be advertised January 1 1915. Properties may be sold for taxes unless owners contact W G Henderson sheriff and collector for delinquent taxes.
The college boys glee club will perform Friday evening in Wood-Mar Hall for an entertaining season highlight. The program features a full selection of numbers designed to provide lighthearted, wholesome amusement for attendees.

Union Thanksgiving services planned for Friday evening November 10 at 10 30 o clock at Ske Ne Church. Rev George C Ritchie pastor of the church will deliver the sermon. Public invited to attend.
An 18 year old Martha Bolton and a 25 year old Paul H. Dirks are wed in a formal marriage notice.
The Women’s Auxiliary to Pacific College hosts an upcoming industrial fair in Newberg with exhibits from Seedag, Rex, Spring Brook, Chehalem Center, and local farmers. Afternoon and evening programs include student drill by Miss Ryan, music, art and fancy work displays, and commission sales at the art booth.
Albany College delivered a 10 point shutout at home against Pacific, rebounding from earlier losses. The visitors faced lineup gaps with Colcord absent at quarterback and Guyer injured, forcing captain Benson to shift to back. This disrupted the backfield and weakened the line, allowing A C to gain yardage through line plunges.
The Dunbar Male Quartet and bell ringers perform Tuesday night December 1 filling a place in the lyceum course. The famous troupe is known nationwide and consistently draws full houses and pleases audiences.
The Industrial Fair will include a baby display featuring Newberg products. The event, likely Friday morning December 4, will showcase the 1914 crop with good and fair samples plentiful for the exhibit.
The S. O. O. P. Hall hosts a chicken dinner on November 20 from 5 thirty to 8 pm. Menu includes chicken with hot biscuit mashed potatoes sweet potatoes baked beans cabbage Waldorf and jelly salads pickles pie cake plum pudding and coffee.
