Farmers gathered at Spring Brook for a lively meeting with strong attendance and singing. They discussed a fruit survey, cooperative canneries, and the future of Oregon fruit marketing, with experts like Robert C. Paulus outlining factors for success and organization proposals debated by attendees.
Mayor S M Calkins calls for all flags to be displayed on Friday November 11 to honor fallen soldiers and celebrate the peace after the war ending two years ago. He urges a fitting public observance across the city of Newberg.
Dr E A Romig of Newberg and Mrs Alverta Terrill of Michigan wed in a quiet Sunday afternoon ceremony at W E Walther’s apartments officiated by Rev H C Kohr. They returned to Newberg Thursday night and hosted a house warming with about twenty neighbors and friends Monday evening.
McMinnville suffers a spate of burglaries as Monday entries target Carl Fuchs James E. Burdett T E ONeill Kelton Pee ry and attorney Frank Holmes. The thieves entered through a window at a movie magnate residence taking two 50 cent pieces and a couple of pennies. They also lifted a watch and a Fedora hat from Holmes while Wisecarver's yielded 70 cents from a bag. Police report slow response and no clear suspects.
The union teachers class met at the Presbyterian church with two new members Mrs. Christopher and Miss Young joining. Rev Kreider was absent. Mrs. Geo H Lee led the session focusing on Joseph with questions and Scripture study. Mr. Sanderman and Miss Reid reported Sheridan Sunday school convention. next meeting is Monday 14th at 7 30 p m.
Fifteen youths gathered at Ruth Holt's home for a Hallowe'en party with games and refreshments. Thelma Cummings made small black and orange yarn dolls given as souvenirs. Attendees included Thelma Cummings Erma Martin Margaret Sanders Ardis Shires Velma Hayman Iva Martin Ruth Holt Treve Cate Wallace Hanville David Ellis Harold Baird Phillip Hodson Ted Chamberlain Delbert Ellis and Oscar Cromwell.
A large Sunday gathering at Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Hash’s Sixth and Willamette residence honored Mrs. Hash on her birthday. Attendees included Mrs. Ellen D. Todd, J. B. Klatt and family from McMinnville, J. H. Goodrich family from Dayton, June Lockridge of Portland, and others who extended birthday wishes.

Armistice Day to be celebrated in Newberg with a Legion led program. Stores close for the day with noon closures for confectionery and drugstores. A prayer service at the Presbyterian church from 12 to 1 pm precedes a high school football game between American region and Newberg department. Evening program at the Legion hall features a bugle call, "Over There" and tableaux, with Dr Gibson and Dr Rankin speaking.
Appointed to draw the county budget for next year are W. S. Allan of Dundee A. J. Bew ley of Sheridan and Elmer Campbell of Hopewell. They were selected to assist the county court in the budgeting process.
The upcoming term may grant full naturalization papers to many aliens. Petitions filed two to three years ago by applicants who failed to appear will be dismissed.
Default in the partition suit Hallie Thomas et al versus May S Jesson et al. leads to guardian ad litem J E Burdett and referee W J Liljequist appointed. Property ordered sold and a $150 attorney fee awarded.
County records show four weddings officiated by Judge Daniels and three by Justice of the Peace Rogers in October. Sixteen marriage licenses were issued in the county that month.
The November term of Circuit Court, presided by Judge H. H. Belt, will be called on November 7.

More than thirty divorce suits filed in circuit court and six divorces granted on Oct. 25 by Judge Belt.
At Rev W N Coffee home in Newberg Samuel M Body and Mrs Daisy Bell Taylor wed at 2 pm on Wednesday November 2 1921 with Coffee officiating. The couple are known in Spring Brook district and settled on a farm beyond the town wishing them prosperity and happiness.
The Smith-Wagoner Co. office arranged a major transfer last week involving N. C. Christenson 50 acre walnut orchard at Newberg and a 330 acre improved farm. Mrs. Josephine Gibson of this city took over the properties with Coos county lands exchanged by Mrs. Gibson for part of the new acquisitions. The total value is about 100000 dollars.
The W. C. T. U. met at Mrs. W. W. Hollingsworths home with music by Mrs. Babcock and others. Due to illness, Mrs. Etta Moore resigned the presidency and Mrs. Olive Bassett was chosen to replace her. A fine program followed and refreshments were served.
A public meeting at Duncan hall 7 30 p m Saturday November 19 1921 will feature attorney Kliks of McMinnville addressing Newberg citizens on street sewer and sidewalk assessments and the city charter amendment The committee urges attendance promising potential savings and better citizenship.
A public health nursing demonstration led by Mary E. DuPaul prompts county residents to organize a permanent county public health association in Yamhill. A mass meeting at McMinnville courthouse on Tuesday November 15 seeks to form the new body to oversee nursing, health education, and community health activities.
President Harding and Secretary Hughes praise the American Red Cross and urge renewed membership. The annual roll call runs November 11 to 24 with volunteers seeking every citizen to enroll and support the humanitarian effort. Contact Mrs. E. L. Evans to obtain a membership button.
The Oregon Growers Cooperative reports end of October receipts near 6.25 million pounds with shipments to eastern markets. Officials expect total dried prunes reaching 8 million pounds this season, down from last year’s 12.0 million on smaller acreage. Prunes graded include 30-405 and larger, with 100,000+ pounds of 20-306 graded. A solid car of 20 50s left Dallas for New York at 18 cents a pound, and some farms report two tons per acre despite a light crop.
Night Marshal Wallace pursued a driving without lights bootleg suspect from River Street to Dayton then McMinnville after encountering a Buick six with a trailer. Joined by Chauncy Gell in an Essex they chased at high speed but local officers could not intervene. Wallace plans to recognize the outfit if seen again.
The Portland Newberg Bus Co explains it did not submit definite figures to the Newberg council when debating fare increases. They cite estimated 1922 expenses including 400 car tax reduced to 300, 11 000 insurance per car, and 10 miles in Portland with 360 yearly payment versus 10 blocks in Newberg at 2160. They argue loads were only about 4 percent per trip and insist council charges are unjust.
