Students at Pacific College hosted a Halloween event with Red Riding Hood the Wolf and other characters. After a flashlight photo, attendees unmasked and explored Hades, registering before tours. They heard a ghost story by President Pennington Leach and enjoyed pumpkin pie and cider at 10:30 p.m.
Readers urged to help starving refugees in Armenia and Syria as hunger and cold devastate women and children. Associated charities will sell pencils on election day to raise funds for relief efforts.
Bible school at 9 45 a m with Les ter Jones as superintendent. Morning sermon at 11 by J N McConnell on City of God. Evening service 7 30 launching of the Bible. Evangelist Rev F R Margetts to conduct meetings starting December 10 with strong backing. Members invited and 150 in Bible school next Sunday.
The W C T U meeting scheduled for the 25th was held at Mrs J C Wille's home. Mrs Alexander Thompson, secretary of the state federation, was announced to speak at Duncan's hall at the same hour, so the Union postponed their meeting an hour out of respect to her.
Members recount the state convention sessions with emphasis on Mrs Kemp re election as president and Wills Mesmorizes with the diamé medal from the state contest. Mary Scott made a life member for long service. Upcoming meeting set for November 8 hosted by Mrs Hollingsworth with planned special features.
On election day we plan to meet Woodburn High on the college field for a football game described as a mortal combat. The Freshmen held a candy sale raising about 6.50 to help pay the Annual debt and Ida Craw won a pennant for best yell.

Emma Frazelle representing the American Library Association spoke to the Rebekahs and Odd Fellows and others on Thursday evening about books for children and young people. She urged uplifting yet engaging reading that blends humor with value, avoiding overly dry content.
The Women's Relief Corps held a well attended meeting at the usual place and the Sunshine Club treated G A R members to a Halloween lunch at the I O O F hall. About seventy W R C comrades and ladies enjoyed pumpkin pies, with Rev Ezra Hayes giving the blessing.
Owing to the change of pastors the Good Citizenship Day program at the Methodist church will be held next Sunday night November 5. The program promises notable addresses by I. E. Holt on Brewers' Amendment, C. Butt on Repeal of the Sunday Law, and R. E. Myers on Good Citizenship, with special music.
The college auxiliary ladies host a three day Autumn sale in the D. C. store building with noon and evening lunches of hot tamales and hot coffee. Public patronage is invited and the event framed as a warm spots to gather.
Larkin Prince Hardware offers 100 dollars for the arrest and conviction of anyone who entered the store during the night of October 31 and stole the pumpkins and squashes collected for a contest. The store planned to weigh and award prizes on November 1, ensuring contestants receive a fair result.
