The Newberg Rose Carnival announces a full day of events starting 10:30 with a baby parade and show, 11:00 lunch by the Civic Club, 12:00 to 2:00 rose drills by 32 young ladies, 1:30 races, 2:00 to 3:00 St Paul vs McMinnville ball game, 7:30 parade, 8:00 minstrels and attractions. G A R encampment on grounds. General chair Miss Mina Langton. division chairs include Miss J D Miller and Mrs Chas Wilson among others.

Cherry fair baby parade brings Salem and Newberg claims
Witnesses say Salem babies were the prettiest at last year’s parade and Newberg babies are said to rival them. On June 8 at 11 00 a rise Rose Show committee asks mothers to help verify the claim by entering wagons buggies or carriages in a contest. Prizes for the prettiest boy and girl under 1 and in 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 year groups will be awarded in the tent west of the Graphic office.

Chehalem Center Hosts Public Temperance Program
The W C T U superintendent announces a public program at Chehalem Center schoolhouse on Friday May 31 at eight o clock. Students from Day ton Dundee and Chehalem Center will present essays on Scientific Temperance Instruction with a county prize to the winner. A temperance program with dialogues recitations readings songs and a collection for the work will follow.

Largest steel vault arrives in Salem for bank transfer
The Gervais Star reports the largest steel vault west of the Rockies will reach Salem around June 1, consigned to Ladd and Bush bank. Weighing 110000 pounds, it cost $25000 with freight charges of $2180. Railway officials call it the biggest single car load shipment ever.

Obituary of Adam Ehret
Adam Ehret born December 26 1829 in Hemsbath Amt Weinheim Germany. He married Christina Kock May 7 1854 and had twelve children in Spencer County Indiana. He moved to South Dakota in 1884 then Canby Oregon in 1891, remarried? no note, died May 28 1912 in Newberg aged 82 years 4 months 2 days. Interment in Canby cemetery Clackamas County.

L S Otis, famed strawberry king of Oregon, oversees a 60 acre Rex Yamhill County patch with his son. He plans to ship 4000 crates this season and 200 daily next week for the Portland market, noting last week’s berries sold at 6 a crate and others at 4 50.

Progressive Medal Contests at Christian Church Tuesday
On Tuesday evening June 4 at 8 o clock the first of a series of metal contests will be held in the Christian church. Young people from city churches will compete for a W C T U silver medal and later for a gold medal. One third of the proceeds go to the host church funds and one third to the W C T U. Myrtle Hollingsworth trains the participants. Special music and 10 cent admission.

Edith Patterson sues the Editor of the Graphic for libel seeking 10000 in damages. The suit stems from a San Francisco news item reprinted in the Graphic which was deemed unreliable.
