Fifty Year Quaker Wedding in Warren County
On May eleventh, fifty years ago, Martin Cook and Mary Jane Smith united in marriage at North River meeting house in a Friends rite. A recent family gathering on Wynooski Street observed the golden anniversary with a simple, solemn ceremony, the children presenting a mortgage note as a gift, and eight grandchildren plus one great grandchild in attendance. August Carl, a Civil War veteran and long-time resident, died May 8 at his son’s home in Newberg after a long illness, leaving a large family and a faithful Christian legacy.
