Illinois Man Wins the Kellogg Trophy at National Corn Show
R A Jamies of Charleston Illinois won the W K Kellogg National Corn Trophy for the best ear of Reid's Yellow Dent corn among 3 125713600 bushels at Columbus Ohio. The 10 inch ear has 20 kernel rows and 6 to the inch, and the judge noted it as a perfectly formed specimen. The Kellogg trophy was donated in 1909 by W K Kellogg and features sterling silver height 30 inches. President Taft attended the show session and Mrs Alford presented Misschen with glass tea and berry sets.

Citizens of Newberg offer a 60 by 94 foot corner lot in Block 11 northwest, with 60 feet on Edwards street and 94 feet on Second street, for the Carnegie Library. The parcel includes cement walks and crossings, will have current buildings removed, and is near the High School and Pacific College. The sale is pressed by community gifts and will be decided by a vote next Friday.

Springbrook Fruit Growers Form Union at Cannery
Strawberries and other fruits growers near Springbrook organized a permanent union at a Friday meeting held April 21 at the cannery. J. H. Rees was named president and E. R. Garner secretary treasurer. Wm. Kincaid served as temporary chairman. A committee will handle marketing and supplies. The constitution and by laws were adopted at a following meeting, and are available for inspection at Springbrook cannery.

The California Fruit Canners Association based in San Francisco has entered the Oregon cherry market. It contracts for nearly all Willamette Valley Royal Ames cherries at 4 cents a pound for three years and will handle Loganberries at 60 dollars a ton and other berries. W G Allen, former Eugene Cannery manager, is named territory north of Roseburg manager and heads to San Francisco to meet officers.
