Circuit Judge Kelly opens a record setting session in Yamhill County with trials planned for the week. Jurors were selected rapidly, cases like State v Miller proceed before noon and acquit. other defendants face larceny, assault, and statutory charges as the docket moves forward.
Chehalem Center youth players pleased audiences with All A Mistake on March 16 and are set to perform again at the Masonic Hall Newberg on April 2 at 7 45 in aid of the Socialist Local Light refreshments and free admission.
The formal opening of the new library building will feature a program Friday evening including music and a lecture on the meaning and value of a public library by Miss Cornelia Marvin, State Librarian.

Oregon plans a major display at the Northwest Products Exposition in Minneapolis from November 12 to 23. Governor West said the Civic and Commerce Association of Minneapolis will provide exhibit space at no cost, backed by the Northwest Development League officials.
Minneapolis and St. Paul business interests purchased $15000 of space for a regional exposition under league auspices similar to last year’s Land Show in St. Paul. The seven state booths will measure fifty by ten feet with twelve by fifty back walls, featuring Minnesota North Dakota South Dakota Montana Idaho Washington and Oregon. The governor may appoint a commission to coordinate exhibits ensuring equal access for all counties cities and land companies.
Wong John a Chinaman living near Newberg gained a partial victory before Judge Campbell at Hillsboro when the entire answer was stricken from the files on motion. Hodges Sherwood Livery keeper received certain horses from the Washington County sheriff by attachment in a separate case but later claimed a lien for feeding and caring for them after selling the horses. Attorney Chapin represented Hodges and was given ten days to draft a new answer.
Miss Leah Barell formerly of Kansas City Missouri spoke at the Free Methodist church recounting ten years as a white slave and her conversion. She praised Newberg for an orderly audience and noted a booklet she authored to defray expenses.

A debate between McMinnville college and Pacific college is set for Saturday at 8 in the college auditorium. The question asks if boards of arbitration with compulsory powers should be created in the U S to settle employer employee disputes. McMinnville defends affirmatives, Pacific defends negatives. Admission 25 cents.
The Star theatre presents for the first time a Vitagraph two reel feature titled Auld Lang Syne on Monday and Tuesday April 1 and 2. The production is based on Bob Burns poetry and aims to capture the beauty of Bonnie Scotland with a full life portrayal. The Star theatre management earns praise for featuring this program to satisfy patrons.
