County Agent M. S. Shrock offers advice on horse heaves causes and relief through moderate feeding, proper hay, grain, and water timing, plus manure management to aid soil. He also outlines potato planting prep with clean seed, soil, and seed treatment to avoid diseases and improve yields.
On Monday evening March 6 a piano fund concert by Pacific College Alumni will be held in Wood Mar Hall. Admission is ten cents. Tickets available at Kienle's Music Store. The program features popular singers pianists and readers with readings solos and quartets. An exciting announcement for Newberg residents will be made from the platform.
National Prohibition workers led by Ern est E Taylor plan a Friday night lecture titled A House Divided at Duncan's hall. Prof Curtis P Coe will preside as the meeting launches an extended speaking campaign in Yamhill county with local speakers joining Mr Taylor. All temperance forces are invited.
The Presbyterian ladies society hosts an old fashioned country style supper at the church next Tuesday evening March 7 starting 5 30. Tickets 25 cents with hot biscuits maple syrup doughnuts coffee and pie. The Old Town band provides music followed by an old time entertainment with a 10 cent admission featuring Miss Alice Bingham of Dundee in humorous selections.

Ernest Hardenburg 33 shot and killed Samuel Richardson nine miles south of Nampa Idaho at 8 o clock Tuesday night Hardenburg visited as a soap peddler and shot Richardson twice through the heart after a remark about the stranger’s familiarity with the wife Maude Brooks witnessed the scene as Mrs Richardson awaited the peddler’s sale and Hardenburg fled the scene ending a violent domestic feud earlier reported by The Oregonian
Dr and Mrs Minthorn, longtime Indian work leaders and first Pacific Academy teachers, are remembered in Newberg obsequies. The couple, tied to Chicmawa and Nye Beach ventures, aided Pacific Academy’s 1885 founding and Weston area sanitarium efforts. Deceased was 69, a Friends church member, and daughter of Benjamin Miles.

The local W C T U met at Mrs W W Hollingsworth's home for Frances Willard Memorial Day. Etta Moore resigned due to illness and Mrs C Hi Christenson was elected to fill her role. The event was planned for March 30 at 8 30 p m with Press Supt Reagan in charge.
Pacific College girls present a morning pageant on March 7 at 10 10 to trace the YWCA from 1866 to 1916. Cast includes a girl of 1866 and a girl of 1916 with yearly costumes and representations of foreign branches. Public invited.
W. C. T. U. institute changes announced for next week due to revival meetings at Chehalem Center church led by Rev. J. L. Glasscock. The Saturday lecture is dropped while an all day Saturday session remains with Mrs. F. L. Harford speaking in the afternoon. The grand gold medal contest moves to Friday evening March 3 at 7 30.
The fiftieth anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Peebles was marked on March 1 at the Shiloh Women's Relief Corps hall. Neighbors, four generations, and many friends joined a dinner featuring a Riverside California wedding cake and a program of music and readings.
