Washington's Birthday Observed by G A R in Duncan's Opera House
The G A R led a Washington birthday celebration with a public afternoon program at Duncan's Opera House attended by students under Principal Kirk. Prof. M. L. Pratt of Portland spoke on The Early Days of the Republic, praising civil sacrifice and liberty, followed by a strong school program. An evening reception at the G A R Hall included speeches by Pratt and others, with solos by Mrs. Wesley Boyes and Miss Susie Brouillette and appreciation for the Relief Corps.
