Closing Week at Pacific College Recaps Commencement Events
The community attended Pacific College’s closing events with strong academic and social participation. Miss Esther Terrell received the college scholarship for the top academy graduate, as Rev. Robert E Pretlow gave a noted address. Alumni demonstrated in a performance of Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch with Jessie Britt starring.

Newberg High School Graduates Quietly In Friends Church
The Newberg high school graduating exercises were held in Friends church on Friday evening with Supt A C Staplrough presiding. Twelve graduates were shown in Graphic with accompanying names. Diplomas were distributed by S P Timberlake. Kenneth Fendall received a prize and scholarships were awarded to Harold Lee.

Sunshine Club Day Meeting Details and Attendee Program
The Sunshine Club held an all day meeting at Mrs. Huntington’s home with about 60 attending a chicken and hot biscuit dinner. For the program American readings were presented by several members, instrumental solos performed by Miss Blythe Owen, and a vocal duet by Mrs. Way and Mrs. Huntington. The event included G A R veterans and decorative yard displays with national colors.

Fire damages Larkin Prince hardware store. losses insured
Last Thursday at 1 30 a blaze struck the Larkin Prince hardware store. Volunteers fought the flames with prompt water and prevented total destruction. Losses pertain mainly to stock and damaged siding with insurers covering figures for most parties. The firm is compiling an inventory for insurance adjustment scheduled soon.
