Longest Yamhill County docket opens with large verdicts
Circuit Court Judge Kelly began June 3rd with the Ide versus Sheridan Lumber case. A jury awarded $4000 after a two day trial over a fire blamed on a defective spark arrester. The Hewitt dispute against the County yielded $145 for Mr. Hewitt and $270 for Mrs. Hewitt after a four day trial and consolidation. Dr. Andrew Kershaw versus Morris Dudley ended in a verdict for the defendant after a single day. Other motions and ex parte matters, including Chinese case cost disputes, filled the session before next term.
