Town meeting approves peddler ban and water fence plan
Town officials passed a motion restricting peddlers in town. The water committee was authorized to fence the site, install four hydrants, 200 feet of hose, a cart, and to distribute hose carts per board of underwriters. Many general fund and water fund bills were approved. Funeral services conducted for several locals. Commencement week program outlined with speakers and events. Birth and Death of Milton J A Heston in Rush Co Kansas and Oregon
Milton Jay Asher Heston son of Gideon and Ruth Heston was born November 15 1886 in Rush county Kansas. He died June 3 1909 at his home in Newberg Oregon aged 22 years 6 months 17 days. He came to Oregon with his parents in March 1889 and grew up among friends and teachers. He was a dutiful son and loving brother with a birthright Friends church membership and expressed readiness to meet his Savior during illness. He leaves a widowed mother and one brother.

Final church cleanup at West Chehalem church
On Thursday June 3 volunteers finished the building cleanup at West Chehalem church. Ladies arranged seats and carpet while men cleared debris and leveled ground. The seating capacity is about 135 and a dedication program starts at 10 AM next Sunday with lunch in the basement.
West Willamette Baptist Session At Newberg
The West Willamette Baptist Association met at the Newberg church with delegates from Amity Carlton Dayton Independence McMinnville Spring Valley Chehalem Valley and Yamhill. Officers elected for next year: W J Crawford moderator J Carl Nelson assistant moderator Rev A B Baird secretary treasurer and Rev F C Stannard chairman of the Missionary committee. The next annual meeting will be in Independence. Delegates praised Newberg Baptists hospitality.

The Centennial Call featured at Christian Tabernacle
Children’s Day exercises by The Bible School at the Christian Tabernacle were well rendered on June 6. The program drew a full church with extra seating and the missions offering totaled $20. Superintendent C J Leavitt led the effort, with Mrs Branch Mrs Neal and Mrs Leavitt praised for their roles.
