Brick plant deal could transform Newberg economy

Negotiations push to build a pressed brick factory in Newberg with John Wetherell and Jesse Edwards testing local clay south of town. The plan includes a $5,900 plant, exclusive street car and gas lights franchises for twenty years, and a 60 day start with brick production within six months, boosting payroll and rail access.
