Springbrook eighth graders graduate in a large ceremony

Five eighth grade students Oscar Calkins Vindetta Wallen Esther Wallen Paul Lewis and Myrtle Burke received diplomas at a crowded Springbrook school event. The program featured recitations music and a valedictory by Myrtle Burke with remarks from County Superintendent L R Alderman and Principal R W Swink.

Memorial Day Exercises Draw Large Crowd And Noted Oration

Decoration day events began with a march from First street to the cemetery led by the G A R W R C and Sons of Veterans. graves were decorated. Afternoon programs featured music, choir, recitations and songs. Judge H H Northup of Portland delivered a prominent memorial address tracing the revolutions of 1776 and the Civil War era for young listeners.
