A major fire in Sheridan damages much of the south bank business district along the Yamhill River after a gasoline stove explosion ignites a chain of flames. Oregon historian Joseph Gaston dies in Pasadena
Joseph Gaston a longtime Oregon resident and Portland historian died in Pasadena California at about age 80 after a chill. He had lived in Oregon since 1862 and moved to Pasadena for his health and to aid his daughter Miss Mary Gaston who is critically ill. His burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery Portland.
