Twenty placers returnees from Minook Ukele City and Dawson arrived aboard the Hattie L Philips at St Michaela. They brought about $70,000 and expect some to resume work. Outputs from Daweon and Minook are forecast to climb to millions, while the Yukon river flood swamped cabins at Minook.

The War Department releases General Shafter figures for Lawton and Kent divisions with counts of killed wounded and missing. Bates brigade and Signalhorse reports are included. Wheeler’s totals are not yet received.
A Manila Bay dispatch says American troops under General Anderson have reached the Philippines and are quartered in Cavite barracks awaiting active service against Spain. A second detachment under General Greene is due soon, with Manila defense seen as safe for now. In Cuba, a Spanish soldier near Playa del Este was found starving, with reports of widespread famine among Spanish troops and warnings of murder if they surrender.
