Astoria reports the sternwheel steamers Gamecock and Staghound towed by Elihe Thompson bound for Alaska were wrecked with decks awash and hull damage. No lives lost, but $125000 in property damage. Crowds viewed the wrecks as the ships were towed into port after capsizing.
