First Electric Train Arrives In Newberg

The first electric train of six coaches arrived in Newberg on the Willamette Valley Lines of the Southern Pacific. Crowds from the county and city celebrated with speeches at city hall and a luncheon, then toured the line from Newberg to McMinnville with dignitaries and press from Oregon papers.

High School Debate Draws Strong Interest In Oregon Question

One week ago at the Dayton high school auditorium the Dayton and Newberg debating teams argued for a one house Oregon legislature. Miss Mae Moore and Nana Wenstrom supported the affirmative and won. This Friday Olive Doak and Harold Say will present the negative. Estacada plans to come to defeat Newberg, which is noted for its inexperience in school activities. The piece urges attendance to witness a timely debate.
