Portiamn January 135 The seventh annual meeting of the Oregon State Horticultural Society met in the council chamber with Dr J W Cardwell presiding and E W Allen as secretary in Prof E R Lake's absence. Newberg members attended in force, the society now claims coast’s largest membership. Speakers discussed read papers and fruit raising profit points, but Newberg fruit men lament few local growers attend.
Seth Winquest of Russellville criticizes a Portland firm for selling California peach pits claimed to be from Virginia. A. H. Dodd of Falls City delivers a strong but flawed orchard paper. President’s address calls the year the society’s best. E H Skinner discusses future prospects for Oregon fruit. C A Tonneson and Rev A Rogers present notes on Northwest fruit growing.
