Poultry Show Results Across Varied Breeds

Barred Plymouth Rocks and multiple breeds judged by numerous exhibitors led to prizes across categories in Oregon. Winners include N. L. Wiley Rex and C. E. Newhouse Springbrook with Barred and White Plymouth Rocks, C. A. Hodson Newberg with Silver Wyandottes, and Albert A. Clayson 83rd cock in the Wyandottes. Special honors awarded for best display by Steffy Dallas and a Plymouth Rock cockerel prize to C. F. Butler.

Great Woodmen Initiation Meet at McMinnville

Modern Woodmen camps from Yam hill and Washington counties gather in McMinnville on January 14 for a joint initiation program and a meal. Newberg team conducts the work with Geo M Hyland of Portland as state lecturer addressing attendees at the Opera House and a later initiatory session in a McMinnville hall followed by a public feed for all Woodmen.

Williams Jubilee Singers Tickets On Sale Soon

Tickets for the Williams Jubilee Singers concert go on sale Tuesday January 17 at Parlor Pharmacy and Ferguson's Drug Store with free reservations. Tickets cost 50 cents. The group is to perform at White Temple the week before their Newberg appearance. Endorsements come from William J. Bryan and J. Frank Hanly praising their artistry and character.

Oregon Legislature's Reform Agenda and Public Works

Convict Labor Plan Advocated by Oregon Good Roads

The Oregon Good Roads Association proposes a bill to place all convicts serving fines or jail time under county court control. The act would authorize county officials to assign convicts to road supervisors or other appointed workers during their sentence.

Funeral of Moses Ross in Fernwood Community

Moses Ross born January 26 1842 in Lake Geneva Wisconsin married Harriet Cochran September 20 1870. He moved to Newberg Oregon in 1903 and died January 3 1911 at his Fernwood home. Survived by wife four sons and two daughters. Funeral held January 4 1911 at the Christian church pastor Geo Ritchey. Interment Rose Lawn cemetery.

Obituary: Silas Comer of Newberg Dies at 74

Silas Comer aged 74 died Sunday at his son Milton Comer's home on School Street Newberg after eighteen years residence. Born March 25 1834 in Randolph County North Carolina he remained a Friend all his life leaving three sons three daughters and eight grandchildren with heirs in Seattle Wichita Los Angeles and La Grand. Funeral by Rev A J Weaver at Milton Comer residence Monday at 2 PM.
