Union revival meetings wind down with strong attendance

Dr. S. J. Reid and J. W. Troy led a week of revival services drawing large crowds despite bad weather. Sunday closing sermons at the Friends church urged generous offers, with a suggested minimum of $2 per member and encouragement for gifts of $5 to $15 or more to honor the evangelists.

Hood River pioneer Rev. G W Kennedy tours Newberg to sell his four part history Pioneer Campfire with Emigrants on the plains settlers in log cabins hunters and miners preachers on trails. Oregon historian Prof John B Homer writes a foreword praising Kennedy as a key figure who recorded Odin stories of early Oregon and hopes future verse could sing the pioneer ethos.

Joseph Langellier Dies Sudden in Rimrock Washington

Henry Craw received a telegram reporting the sudden death of Joseph Langellier from heart failure at Rimrock Washington where he had gone to assist his daughter Mrs Mitchell postmistress. Langellier came from Emporia Kansas to Oregon settling in Newberg and Dundee over the years. He earlier worked at the Graphic and Carlton Sentinel offices. The body will be brought home for burial and funeral services proceed Friday at 2 30 PM at the Presbyterian church.

Newberg Girl to Wed March Sixth

Miss Alice Christenson will marry Harold Adams on March six at Bremerton Washington Navy Yards where he serves with army Y M C A work. The wedding follows their courtship formed at McMinnville College. A misc shower for the bride was hosted by Kappa Alpha Phi sorority members at Grace Newell’s home with heart decor and a bow and arrow gift display.

Missouri farmer accepts 90 dollar buggy after trade offer

A Missouri farmer declined a dealer's barter of 300 bushels of corn for a collection of goods valued differently from a 90 dollar buggy once bought by his father for 50. The dealer proposed a bundle including wagon clothes dress cigars groceries gasoline and oil. The farmer kept his 90 dollar buggy and left satisfied.
