Laurant Brings Magic to Wood-Mar Hall Friday Night

Eugene Laurant the man of many mysteries will appear at Wood-Mar Hall on Friday night December 11. The famed magician has headlined lyceum programs for fifteen years and will be assisted by pianist Ernest Gradolph and manager Edward Stigler. A large sale of seats is expected with tickets going on sale Monday at Kienle's Music Store.

Obituary notes long-time Oregon resident and family survivors

The deceased, a State of Oregon employee for 25 years, is survived by a widow and four children, a father and two brothers E. A. Thomas of Newberg and J. H. Thomas of Ridgeway Wasco county, two sisters Mrs Neva Higgins of Portland and Mrs Lizzie Caffrey of Warren. He was a devoted husband and loving father and had been a member of the W O W for thirteen years.

McMinnville high school beat Newberg 29 to 7 on college grounds in a clean game. A large crowd of fans supported both teams as Newberg seniors earning letters this season were listed. Spelling lessons continue weekly, manual training finished a public school shed, and basketball practice has begun with many candidates anticipated for the first team.

Fatal shotgun accident on Sam McVey place near Newberg

J W Thomas and his 15 year old son Elmer were hunting ducks when a discharged shotgun in Elmer's hand struck Thomas in the back, tearing through the spinal column. Thomas spoke farewell and died within minutes. Coroner Tilbury listed the incident as accidental. Funeral services were held at Hollingsworth chapel led by Rev Hiram Gould. Mrs Thomas expressed gratitude for community kindness.

Life's Shadows lecture at Friends Church union service

Rev. W. G. MacLaren of Portland will present an illustrated lecture Life's Shadows at 7:30 Sunday night in Newberg's Friends church. Churches unite for a large regional meeting to showcase Pacific Coast Rescue and Protective Societies work in Oregon and Washington. No admission fee. An Ford engine demonstration at the Industrial Fair will attract visitors.
