Martha J Parrett Pioneer Mother Dies In Oregon
Martha J. Parrett died at her Parrett Mountain home on Wednesday afternoon. Born February 5, 1845 in Mercer County Virginia, she moved from Missouri to Oregon in 1865 and married Henry Parrett in 1867. She is survived by sons Samuel L. Parrett of Newberg and Walter W. Parrett and Charles A. Parrett of Parrett Mountain. Funeral arrangements are set for Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the M E Church in Newberg with Rev. Moffitt officiating. interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Parrett Mountain.

S. P. Timberlake’s Relatives Die in Train Collision
A telegraph from Red Bluff California reports the death of Bernice and Frank Jack Timberlake in a bus train crash near Proberta. About 14 Red Bluff high school students rode the bus. twelve were killed and others hospitalized with no hope of recovery. The train traveled about 45 mph and the wreckage stretched 200 yards along the tracks.

A head on collision of two fast trains on the O W R N near Celilo at 12 30 a m Thursday caused multiple deaths and injuries among residents from Newberg area towns. Fire at Condenser Causes Quick Creamery Alarm
Fire of unknown origin prompted a rapid call to the local cream condensary last Monday evening. High winds fueled a fast start, but the blaze was soon extinguished with a comparatively small loss. The fire likely began near a wall switch box, wires of which had been disconnected, leaving the origin unclear.

Dr and Mrs W N Coffee were stranded eight miles east of Albany in Lakeview district when the Santiam River burst its banks flooding the area. They slept as flood began, woke to four feet of water, abandoned their car, and reached Albany by train Tuesday.

Boys Enjoy Weekend Visit to Gatch Farm on Chehalem
A group of Newberg boys spent a pleasant weekend at the C. D. Gatch home on Chehalem mountain north of town. Philip Gatch drove down with ponies and brought the boys back Saturday afternoon. The party included Pierre Carter Wilbur Billiott Homer Hester Stanley Kendall and a Portland boy whose name was not learned. They fed chickens and turkeys milked cows and enjoyed chicken and fried turkey at the Fairview ranch, formerly the Parker ranch.
