Fernwood Couple Wed In Quiet Fernwood Ceremony
Benjamin L. Hicks pastor of Newberg Christian church and Anna C. Huddle of Fernwood united in marriage at the bride's Fernwood home in a simple ceremony attended by close relatives and friends. Wallace Jones officiated as the couple plans to move to Yamhill for Hicks to assume a new pastorate on October 1. The bride and groom are well known in Newberg and Fernwood and were warmly greeted by local friends.

Bravery Award for Fallen Soldier Lester C Rees
Lester C Rees, a bugler with the 125th Infantry, received the French Croix de Guerre with bronze star and a citation for bravery. He volunteered to carry vital orders under heavy fire at Gesnes, France, where he was killed in action on October 9, 1918 at age nineteen. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rees, reported they never learned the details of his death.
