Portland Mourns Two Suicides In Separate Incidents

Max Friendly, longtime Oregon resident and California wine depot manager, shot himself in Portland ending his life after a brief illness of twenty minutes. He had lived in Benton county for about thirty years and moved to Portland a year ago. No note was left. John E Bartosch, a boot dealer from Albina, killed himself yesterday at his daughter’s home on Government Island in the Columbia River.

Governor I Heughes was struck on a Phoenix street by P J Clark a Denver Times correspondent. The blow broke the governor's spectacles and caused minor facial wounds. Clark is in Phoenix city jail awaiting trial. Clark formerly served as agent hero of the Rocky Mountain News and was dismissed for sending telegrams reflecting on the governor’s conduct.
