Mrs Caroline Ottomeyer Dies After Prolonged Illness
Mrs Caroline Ottomeyer died Thursday evening after a long illness due to a derangement of the intestines following an operation. Born September 24, 1833 in Wilberg Lippe Bermalde Germany, she was 72. She came to New Ulm in 1882 with her three children G. A. A. P. and Mrs. Fred Alpenberndt, who were with her at death. She was a Friedens church member and valued mother and neighborly duties. Funeral services were held at home and grave with local ministers, as mourners joined a long procession to the cemetery.

Valen tine Hegler, a 24 year old Sleepy Eye livery worker, chased two women into a church with carbolic acid after a rejection. He was bound over to the grand jury and jailed without bail, claiming the acid was for personal crisis purposes while witnesses testified to threats.
