Two Hundred Year Badges of Early Settlers Held
Turner hall park hosted a popular old settlers event drawing about 200 veteran residents plus many visitors totaling over a thousand attendees. The afternoon featured a doodlejack by Jos J Bier and an old fashioned waltz. John Liebl fractured his hip during the dance but this did not spoil the evening concert. Prizes went to longest residence Peter Simmet and others for family size, ages, singing, dancing, and service.

Landslide Delays Train Transfer On M and St L Route
Passengers on the M and St L after noon train Wednesday faced a rare transfer when a major landslide blocked the Fritsche ravine cut. Six to eight feet of dirt halted the morning train, forcing a back transfer and a later move by freight cars to carry two hundred travelers to Winthrop. Sweltering heat in the caboose and box cars did not deter passengers, but another slide threatens the line and a costly retaining wall is proposed.

Sleepy Eye Youth Killed by Northwestern Train
John Seller son of Mr and Mrs Jos Seliner of Sleepy Eye was struck by a Northwestern train Thursday evening while walking along the track home from this city. His body was so mangled the heart and other portions were scattered. he died instantly. He was seventeen, formerly employed in Sleepy Eye mill, and buried in Sleepy Eye Danish church cemetery Friday. An adjourned city council session discussed Centar street gas coating petitions in secret. outcome not released.
