Sleepy Eye Fire Damages Hagermann and Conley Buildings
A Wednesday afternoon blaze at Hagermann building housing J L Hansen restaurant spread quickly to the Conley hotel next door. Mrs Mary Honl spotted the flames from the bakery roof. damages include about 1800 to Conley stock and building with 1000 fire coverage. Hagermann insured for 500. Windsor hotel also affected by smoke and water. Insurance on Hanson stock and fixtures valued at 350 will not be paid. A separate ad section promotes Dr White's Electric Comb with 50c plea.

At a Monday meeting the lodge adopted resolutions expressing sympathy for President William McKinley and his family after the September 6 1901 assassination attempt. They denounced the crime as cowardly and urged preservation of the president in the nation’s hour of grief. The resolutions were dated New Ulm September 9 1901 and filed in the lodge records.

Herman Vogelphol laid to rest after long life of service
Herman Vogelphol 71 or 72 years old died after a brief illness and was buried in the local cemetery following a large family gathering. He had lived in New Ulm 32 years after moving from Germany, was a Lutheran and respected father and citizen. He leaves children Henry Mankato F W Green Bay Mrs Palmer Fairfax Mrs Brauert and several Vogelphol offspring. An administrator named Herman Vogelphol was named in his will.
