The Remund and Reim households celebrated long marriages and 75 year old Remund, with 125 attendees in New Ulm. Guests included local professors and relatives from St James, Minneapolis, Waseca, and Farmington as Rev Albrecht and Rev Hobo offered tributes and songs.

Old Settlers Picnic Promises German Entertainment at Turner Park

The Jopior Pioneers finalize plans for the old settlers picnic at Turner Park next Sunday. Mayor L. A. Fritsche will welcome attendees, with Albert Steinhauser delivering the main German address, plus cultural numbers, races, and Second Regiment music. Junior Pioneers oversee arrangements and ice cream stands. Admission is 10 cents for all except old settlers.

Young Man Loses Eye In Lead Pellet Accident

Tony Wiesner narrowly avoided serious injury after a street accident near the State Bank as Otto Berbrich and Peter Car's cars swerved close. Wiesner, lifting himself by a water tank and gripping a headlight, confronted the drunken driver and caused a stop. Mrs Liesch narrowly escaped when her auto moved suddenly, crushing her but leaving her alive. A second incident on Lake Hansks left Fred Flor permanently blind in one eye from a No 6 pellet fired at birds, the shot piercing the eye and prompting its removal the next morning. Flor, 20, is employed at Hanaka Machines & Implement Co.

Committee Appointed to Study City Government Change

The city council held a lengthy session Tuesday night approving a committee to study replacing the mayoral system with a commission form. Other business included sewer work bids on Minnesota Street, liquor license transfers, street improvements payments, and a card party hosted by the Mothers' Society of the Catholic church.

A September wedding united Miss Edns Macho and John Polis at Holy Trinity Catholic church with Rev. Robert Schilokert officiating. Attendants included Min Haule Macho and Alfred Polta. After a reception at the bride’s home, about 60 guests attended, and the couple will reside at the Weigand Havenstele on South Frank- Tin Street. Mr Polta works as a teamster for August Sabell Brewing.

New Bottling Department Opened by New Ulm Brewing Company

Last Wednesday New Ulm Brewing and Malting Company activated its new bottling department in the old Frenzel building adjoining the brewery plant. The fully automatic equipment includes a bottle soak er wash er filling crowning pasteurizer labeler and other essentials. Remodeling makes the facility one of the most modern and efficient in the region, replacing the cramped former basement setup.

August Heat Brings Unusual Semplaid and Ill Effects

The hot August brings fatigue and hoarseness amid weeks of extreme heat. The month averaged warmer than 1912, with a 100 degree day on the 16th and a two week cooling pause, followed by a spell of sunshine. Alex Henle records 31 days of rainfall and multiple thunderstorms on the 7th, 8th, 10th, 16th, 17th, and other dates.

Minneapolis man recruits for St Elisabeth society in New Ulm

George Stelzle of Minneapolis, a Wil representing the German Catholic Aid Association of Minnesota, spent several days in New Ulm last week. He enrolled about forty five women who will be admitted to the St Elisabeth society at its next regular monthly meeting on October 6.
