Earl Schmotter, former Ottawa resident and Indiana Motor Truck Co. manager in Minneapolis, accidentally shot himself in the abdomen with a 22 caliber pistol at his apartment. He died the same night after surgery. aged 29, married with two children, his parents and sister mourn his death. Remains sent to Ottawa for burial.

Brown County Fair nets record surplus and attendance
The Brown County Fair Association reports a 1921 surplus nearing 2500 dollars after a record season. Gate receipts totaled 5270 dollars with 14527 visitors and 8700 on Tuesday. Fresh profits include 3092 from refreshments and 469 from concessions, with premiums around 2272 dollars and most funds soon returned by the state.

For the first time in statehood Minnesota will omit the general revenue tax. The suspension was announced by the state auditor as the 1921 tax levy was certified to county auditors. Last year the tax yielded $1,667,419.42. The specific ad valorem levy stands at 14.28 mills.

Joseph Binder, 21, of Gibbon Minnesota, studying at Johns Hopkins, jumped three stories from a Baltimore boarding house window after his clothing caught fire while cleaning trousers.
