Deputy Game Warden Jordan of Mankato arrested four Courtland men John Gabriel August Hagenmeier August Poehler and Pred Reeser for killing muskrats out of season. They pled guilty before a justice, were fined $10 each plus costs, and the muskrats were confiscated for sale when the season opens.

Northrop to resign as Minnesota University president
Cyrus Northrop, president of the state university, will retire at the end of the current school year. He indicated he may resign very soon and will step down once the year is complete. The veteran educator, likened to Harvard's Eliot, has served since leaving rhetoric to lead the university. he will be seventy five on his next birthday.
