Nicollet County Court Term Ends After Two Weeks

Judge J. M. Olsen and Court Reporter W. T. Eckstein returned from St Peter where Nicollet County held a nearly two week term. The lone criminal count accused Wm Edmons of $400 misappropriation but was carried to the May term. Six jury trials were held, led by a $28,000 personal matter.

Women invited to health lecture at Masonic Hall

The Health Board calls women of the city to attend a Thursday evening lecture by Dr Bracken at the Masonic Hall to learn about conditions causing illness and death in New Ulm. The board seeks their cooperation as endorsement of remedies. Harris of Cambria Township suffered appendicitis in the cornfield. he was taken to Fred Fifer’s hospital and operated on. Despite days of illness the steading surgeon believes recovery is possible.

King Dillard in Runaway Pursuit Ends Unharmed

A runaway incident on Washington Street involved King Dillard and buggy, injuring no one. William Huevelmann and Waldemar pursued the horse to the Fair Grounds. the horse returned safely with only minor buggy damage and a few dollars needed for repairs.

Rabbits Scarce Since Invasion Hasenpfeffer Dance Planned

Report details a rabbit drive through New Ulm led by Lt. Backbarth and Brig. Gen. Ford Crone with cadets and staff. Rabbits were culled in large numbers for Hasenpfeffer supper at the Fair Grounds to raise funds for the Brown County Agricultural Society, with hunts by New Ulm Turn Verein members and other crews.

Local Journal Notes Residents Visit Old Home In Germany

Jory List Drawn reports that Fred Schmelling of Lucan and Louis Bustger of New Ulm stayed at Geo. Muedksing home for several days. They were schoolmates in Merl Germany over four decades ago. Schmelling recently toured Europe visiting his old home and Mesico and Paperis Canal. The trio plans winter time in Texas and Florida. A court crew met to draw grand and petit jurors for Brown County December term opening December 9.

State Health Expert Visit Urges New Ulm Sanitation Reform

Dr H M Bracken of the Minnesota State Board of Health spoke in New Ulm urging improved sanitation in local businesses. He warned of penalties for violations and explained state rules on foul nuisance, meat protection, and occupation permits, urging cooperation to protect public health.
