New Ulm forms the Chautauciation to bring the 1919 Chautauqua to town with White & Myers Bureau handling acts. Opening day features Carmeling's Colonial Band and speaker C W Wassam, followed by a week of concerts and lectures from Emily Waterman, Metropolitan Symphony Club, Baldy Strang Entertainers, Musical Merrymakers, Davies Light Opera Company performing Pinafore, and speakers Dr John A Gray Robert Goldsmith J S Montgomery and B E Violette.

Federal plans large war goods gift to Minnesota roads
