Graduating exercises set for Friday May 29 at Turner Hall with 23 seniors including Eleanor Emmerich Rosebud Engel and Stella Gay. Class honors to Harry Mecklenburg valedictorian Beata Krook and Martha Kunze salutatorian. Memorial Day observance planned by Hecker Post G A R with parade from Indian Monument 3 30 pm and program at Fly cemetery. Three Civil War veterans, Hauenstein Hellmann and Huhn, have died in the past year.

Redwoods Semicentennial Preparations Parade and Events

Redwood hosts its Semicentennial June celebration with an auto parade open to all car owners and drivers. Decorated cars encouraged, prizes for decoration. The parade avoids the big hill while routing through the city to Ramsey State Park. Marshall and Owatonna ball clubs will play three days at the Fair Grounds with approval from the Fair Association. The Second Regiment Band from New Ulm will perform on Armory Day for the Armory dedication. Newcomers Day and the Summer Opening of Alexander Ramsey Park conclude the celebration.

Park Prepared for Event With New Paths and Shrubs

The Park is being carefully dressed for the occasion with new paths laid out and roads repaired. Jos. Tyson, Superintendent of Parks, traveled to New Ulm last week and bought flowering shrubs to be planted mainly at the entrance. Redwood Falls Gazette.

Rail traffic surges as Seventeenth of May draws Norse

Local railroad offices report heavy end of week traffic driven by Norse cousins heading to the Seventeenth of May celebration. A Special train operated by M and St. L to serve Vikings from New Ulm and Hanska. old freight rate on crushed stone restored after Leary's push. Both lines plan summer track work, details to come. Next Monday at 10:35 a 50-car train of traction engines bound for Nebraska passes New Ulm on the St. Louis road, signaling Minnesota farmers must wake to Western competition.

Mills Push Two Factories Toward Major Expansion

News from the mills reports rapid progress on the Fagle Mills expansion including a new corn and rye mill doubling capacity and a 40 to 50 thousand bushel grain storage elevator with seventeen compartments. Restaurant Improvements Move Berndt to New City Site

Ed H. Berndt begins remodeling the former Citizens' State Bank building to open a larger restaurant. He has a two year lease from the bank owners and plans modern equipment, new furniture, and a brighter dining space. Ascension Day services will be held at Frieden's Church at 10 am Thursday.

Illinois Man Is Chosen as Supt

The city council selected A. R. Manley of Mt. Carmel Illinois as superintendent of the electric light and water works, after reviewing fifteen applicants. He outlined plans to improve efficiency, boost patronage, and hire a steam engineer for power management while focusing on the electric side. The meeting also addressed lighting in Dayton's Bluff, safety rails for the powerhouse, and replacing worn fire department hose.

Organ Recital and Dedication at Music Hall

The new pipe organ by Lupher College will be installed with two manuals and extensive stops and pipes. Organist Edward Rechlin of New York will perform a recital Sunday May 24, with a formal dedication set for June 15, the day before graduation. The afternoon program includes Bach, Rameau, Guilmant, Brahms, and Widor pieces among others, sung by mixed choir and organ.

District Court Session Opens With Insurance, Road Appeals

District Court opened at the Court Home with Judge Olsen presiding. Insurance cases were continued to the next term and road appeals to be tried in vacation. Grand jury convened. Rudolph Jensen excused due to family illness. Several cases set for trial, others settled or continued. motions heard.

Capt O A McGee of the 5th Cavalry U S A visited New Ulm to inspect military organizations and property. The Second Regiment Band and Company A were checked. all band members attended 67 total members, 45 listed on roll, eight absent without leave, others on furlough. Machine Gun Company members inspected Tuesday. five were absent with leave, others present. Government property examined daytime and drill inspection quick. officer pleased with property and men’s efficiency.
