Freight Depot Fire at Omaha Sparks Wide Damage
The Omaha freight depot at Manka burned to the ground on Thursday as strong winds fanned flames. The office records and merchandise were lost with only car books saved. Born in Kostelzen Bohemia in June 1834 and 1443, they married in 1860, moved to Milford in 1868, later residing in New Ulm. The day featured church services, Mothers Society and St Joseph’s Society participation, Gruenenfelder’s orchestra and the 2nd Regiment band, and a rocking choir gift.

Boy Killed by Pet Horse Near Mankato Farm
A four year old boy, son of farmer John E. Davis living near Mankato, was kicked in the heart by a horse while playing near the animals. He died within moments after his mother found him and a final remark named a favorite horse as the culprit. No witness to the accident.

Stabbing Affray Wounds Man at Valley Street Bar
A man identified as John Gewert and ex employee Robert Boesch clashed Monday at Beaders Brewery frontage on Valley Street leading to Gewert being seriously wounded by multiple knife blows. Gewert was arrested and jailed awaiting grand jury action while Boesch was reported improving and not considered seriously hurt.
