Silk Robbers in Blue Earth Jail After $2000 Silk Heist

Three burglars arrested at Blue Earth in a Silk robbery case tied to a Springfield haul of $2000 in silks. One suspect identified as Charles Larabee of San Francisco was shot and captured after a shootout with Sheriff W J Iuling. Two suspects later jailed at Worthington. Claimed gang ties include Henderson Murphy crew member Curley Clause, alias Adams, with Clifton Adams suspected. George Black Enlists in Coast Defense Army Life

George Black formerly of New Ulm now living in Mankato has enlisted in the U S Army for coast defense and is in St Louis to be mustered. He writes of daily drills band concerts and a bustling camp of 1500 to 2000 men with plans to go to Washington San Diego or Panama. He says the life appeals to him despite harsh conditions and mentions experiences with the barracks and campus dancing.

Company A Members to Be Paid for Service

Capt Adolph Klause oversees paying Company A servicemen who served on the Mexican border. Eligible members receive 105 dollars for 210 days with 50 cents per day extra for Texas service. Signatures are required before payment, with about 10 000 dollars expected to be paid in the city.

Prison Relief Society to Aid War Prisoners

The National Committee on Prisons and Prison Labor, recognized as a relief society by the War Department, will assist in humane work under the Hague Convention. It plans to distribute relief and form a new society in the United States during the war, recruiting agents to handle interned prisoners of war. The internment committee is led by William Hamlin Childs with Adolph Lewisohn as president and Joseph D. Sears as secretary.

Red Wing Hosts Knights of Columbus Delegates

Paralyzed Man Sent to St Louis by St Peter

A partly paralyzed man found near St Peter could not speak or write. After examination the sheriff learned the case and, when shown a map and the city of St Louis, Mo, the county commissioners ordered a ticket to St Louis and he was sent there.

Fort Ridgely Defender Passes Away at Richfield Home
