Trains Stopped by Mud on Klossner Hill Slide

Rainy season brings land slides on the Minneapolis & St. Louis line between Klossner and New Ulm. A mud slide buried rails in three spots nearly two feet deep, blocking traffic all night. Some passengers walked to New Ulm in a downpour while crews cleared the track and by Monday morning freight No. 64 resumed service.

Restores forer former rate freight figures back to prior levels

Minneapolis & St. Louis and Northern Pacific railroads have canceled the joint tariff on hard coal from Duluth to New Ulm and other westward points. They assert the tariff was non compensatory and unprofitable, seeking to restore the old rate while officials ask the Attorney General to pursue court action to enforce commission decrees.

Library revival plan keeps doors open with new fund drive

A special Library board meeting delayed closure as G A Ottomeyer leads a finance committee to raise at least 250 dollars from residents. The librarian reports strong demand with daily checkouts and the panel aims to reopen, possibly adding new books, after fundraising succeeds.

Broadway Grocery to Erect Two Story Brick Block

Hedler Wilt Buddy Chas Fiedler proprietor of the Broadway Grocery plans a two story brick business block at Broadway and Second North this summer. Architect Hermann Amme and contractor H Schapebahm arrange moving the current store to the rear. new building 25 by 60 feet with corner entrance, show windows, basement, modern fixtures, ready by September 1. Excursions to Northwest West and Southwest offered by North Western Line with reduced rates and various car types.

Trains Change Time on Chicago and Northwestern

The Chicago and Northwestern railway issued a new time card effective Sunday affecting only two trains. Passenger No 503 now arrives at 12 35 instead of 11 40, and No 17 on the old line now arrives at 12 33. All other trains keep their former schedules.
