Bank Builds New Home In New Ulm Largest Bank

The Citizens State Bank moved its operations to a new modern building opposite their former site on Minnesota Street. The facility features a marble vestibule, high windows, a large lobby, private rooms for public and ladies, reinforced concrete vaults with burglar alarms, and premium finishes in Cathedral Oak and Carrara marble. Built for utility and comfort, the bank costs between 45000 and 50000 dollars with Nordyke Marmon of Minneapolis as architects and builders. The institution traces back to 1875 and shows a strong regional role with deposits over 1.5 million.

Commercial Club Growth And New By Laws Adopted

The New Ulm Commercial Club held its regular monthly meeting with about fifty members present. Discussion covered University Week Luce Electric Line and new by laws. By laws enable membership at eighteen with three classes Active Associate Honorary. Active members pay ten dollar admission and hold property rights voting power. associates vote on other matters and may hold office.

Democrats Nominate Flittie For Congress At Mankato Meeting

Brown County delegates converge for a Democratic congressional conference in Mankato. Jean A. Flittie of Mankato is unanimously proposed as the party’s candidate, with Major Albert Pfaender declining. The turnout nears thirty, and plans surface for a competitive fall campaign. The gathering also notes routine club matters and upcoming weekly gun shoots at the Fair Grounds.

New Ulm Business Men's Club adopts game warden support plan

The New Ulm Business Men's Club at its annual meeting last Tuesday evening resolved to appoint each member as an assistant to the county game warden to enforce state game and fish laws. The club seeks cooperation with Sleepy Eye Springfield and Hanska gun clubs to expand enforcement efforts.

Political contest grows as candidates line up this fall

County and legislative offices will be contested with opposition across the slate. Fred W. Johnson withdraws from State Senator race. Aug G Erickson and Major W W Smith join in the contest as does Albert Hauser for representative at large. Benedict J. Juhn and Frank H Belmke seek Probate Judge and Clerk of Court posts. incumbents Judge Ross and Carl Manderfeld seek reelection. Memorial shrubbery added to Governor John A Johnson monument grounds.

Fire damages German Methodist church building

A Monday morning fire at the German Methodist church caused smoke and water damage totaling an estimated 700 to 1000 dollars. The blaze centered in the basement chimney area and extended into the main room and Sunday School space, with no injuries as students escaped safely.
