City Council’s doings and lighting contract awarded

Minnepolis city council room and public session details reveal bids for the Minnesota Street lighting system discussed in executive session. W. C. Hartig Electric Co. won the contract to install 44 posts by July first, with work to finish on Minnesota Street from 2nd South to 4th North. John Backer appointed city assessor after Geisinger’s bid failed. A ten percent liquor license transfer to the street fund adds $1300.

D Websters whitewash Winthrop in 8 to 0 baseball game

On local grounds the D Websters shut out Winthrop 8 to 0 as Simonson allowed few hits and Amann robbed a hit from Scherf. Groebner slugged two doubles and a triple for the Websters while Cyrus Groebner provided two strong centerfield hits. Attendance was poor. Pirates and Sleepy Eye Juniors were noted in nearby results.

Sixth crop report notes favorable conditions along Northwestern line

General Agent A C Johnson issues the sixth season crop report from Winona, noting slow growth but favorable conditions. Weather the past week was milder, 40 to 60 degrees above zero with cool nights and no frost, and though top growth lagged, no major damage to spring grain occurred. Some early oats may need reseeding, but overall prospects remain positive.

Democratic Executive Committee Named by Chairman Day

Frank A. Day, chairman of the Democratic state central committee, announces the executive committee named at the last meeting. It will meet at the Merchants hotel in St. Paul next Thursday at 10 30 a.m. Members: Frank A. The committee will apportion delegates select the convention date and place and arrange convention details. The convention will be held in Minneapolis in August.

New Train For Twin Cities Linked To New Schedules

National Congress to Meet in St Paul County Assessor Session

The National Conservation congress will convene in St Paul early September for a three day session between September 4 and 10. Governor Adolph Eberhart will oversee inquiries into the event as a telegraphic invitation confirms the city’s acceptance.
