New Ulm Skat Players Win Big at Mankato Meet
More than thirty New Ulm skat players traveled to Mankato for a district tournament at the Sons of Hermann hall. T W Manderfeld won afternoon prizes, Eli Klugherz and Peter Schweitzer placed second and third. In the evening Robert Williams led with 25 games, Fred Palchow and John Forster followed. Deposits in Minnesota State Banks Jumped In Year
A report by Supt. of Banks Turrittin shows state bank deposits rose by 24.6 million to reach 192.15 million, with total assets up 26.98 million and loans increasing 16.52 million from March 4 1916 to early this month. Ninety seven state banks now operate in Minnesota, with 79 new openings this year.

Sleepy Eye man jailed for after hours saloon theft
Frank Pechtel twenty seven of Sleepy Eye was jailed after an after hours burglary at a Sleepy Eye saloon. He faces petit larceny charges after allegedly duplicating a key, stealing snake bite medicine and about twenty five dollars from the cash register. He was bound over to the May term grand jury after waiving examination.

Hunting accident leaves 21 year old badly injured on Minnesota river
Joseph Schroepfer aged 21 was shot while handling a shotgun on a hunting trip with Albert Roth. The load shattered his arm damaging muscles ligaments and bone. He was taken to Loretto hospital in serious condition as doctors assess repair prospects.

Former Nicollet Resident Believed Murdered
Fred Riegel, a retired Nicollet resident, is believed murdered on his farm near Detroit Minnesota. His body was found last week after he disappeared around March 1 and may have been in the snow in the field since then. Becker county authorities investigate. Riegel was a bachelor with relatives in Nicollet.

Organ Dedication at Gibbon Lutheran Church
The new two manual pipe organ at the Lutheran Church in Gibbon was formally dedicated last Sunday with Rev. Henry Boettcher and Prof. A. Ackermann leading services. Prof. Fr. Reuter presided at the organ as Ackermann delivered the dedication sermon and the Gibbon church choir and D. M. S. College double quartet provided music. An organ recital followed in the evening with Prof. Reuter at the instrument and participation by college singers.
