Watonwan Crow Hunt Plans Spark Regional Fight
The Watonwan Game and Fish Club proposes to form a five member committee to enlist neighboring counties and newspapers in a mass crow destruction campaign. Last year the county held a two day hunt that killed 1500 crows and awarded prizes of 6, 3, and 2 dollars. Farmers have intensified interest and the group aims to expand the effort this year. County ditch and road hearings set for Cobden and New Ulm route
Final hearing on County Ditch 32 is planned for Cobden on April 6 while Judge Olsen will hear the Judicial Road petition on April 3. The proposed four rod wide highway would run from the Metzen bridge in Cottonwood through timber tracts along the Chicago Northwestern Railway right of way to Cambria in Blue Earth County, a plan contested by Cottonwood town and timber owners who fear substantial timber losses.

John Affolder and John Wurm appeared before Judge I M Olsen on charges of grand larceny in the first degree for stealing muskrat and mink skins valued at 875 dollars from Stuehe Brothers Produce House. They pleaded guilty to grand larceny in the second degree and were sent to the Reformatory at St Cloud for an indeterminate term. restitution and partial sale proceeds noted. Sheriff to transport them Wednesday morning. Miss Mabel Johnson returned home to Minneapolis after visiting Mrs F E Eidsvold of this city.

Swan Lake Plan Again Faces Opposition by Sportsmen
After nearly five years, the engineer F D Minium filed the preliminary survey for County Ditch No 67 lowering Swan Lake with Nicollet County Auditor W H Holt. The survey estimates open ditch outflow south of Nicollet village at about 111 570.93 and affects 32710 acres including Nicollet County's lake bed of 10920 acres. Survey cost so far is 6500.61 and flood conditions overflow land outside the meandered line.

Creamery Installs Boiler After Breakdowns
Sigel Co-Operative Creamery replaced a broken boiler with a new unit after a leak preventing repair. Frank Seifert and August Hoffmann were authorized to travel to purchase the boiler, while a threshing crew kept operations running. The new boiler, arriving Monday, will handle the creamery’s needs for some time as churns run three days weekly producing about 25 tubs of butter. Also noted, Joseph Augustine of Springfield remains in Brown County jail awaiting recognizance or six months’ confinement after a domestic dispute conviction.
