Rural Telephone Co Founded Near New Ulm

At an Opera house meeting farmers and citizens organized a rural independent telephone company led by Philip Liesch with a $50,000 capitalization. Congregational Church Calls New Pastor

The Congregational church voted unanimously to call Rev. M. B. Morris as pastor after two appearances before the congregation. Morris, former Minneapolis charge and current Windour Institute field secretary, is not young but energetic and popular with large audiences. If he declines, the second choice is Mr. Wheeler. The church has lacked a resident pastor since early January when Mr. Bean resigned.

Majors and captains gather in Austin for election of a new regimental commander. Senate bills private bank bill Eberhart defers postponement

Indefinite postponement of the Eberhart bill in the senate settles the long debated proposal to prohibit private banks from operating under the name bank. The measure would force the local bank to reorganize as state or national, risking reduced revenue for mills and general business. Bryan lecture draws bankers. lodging scarce in Dakota lobby

Many attendees at the Bryan talk could not secure rooms and stayed in the Dakota house lobby waiting for the morning train. Bankers from out of town attended to question Bryan on money, and he offered answers to every inquiry.
